Serger Tips and Techniques Workshop – February 2013

A serger is a wonderful tool. It can finish a single raw edge of fabric or sew, trim and finish a seam all at once. Use a serger to give your clothing a more professionally finished look quickly and easily.

laurakeithAt our February 2 Quarterly Meeting, Join Laura Keith in exploring and understanding this wonderful machine.  She’ll teach techniques featured in her morning trunk show.

Learn a basic three- or four-thread overlocked seam and narrow rolled edge treatments—on wovens, knits and stretch knits.  Use youre serger to apply elastic and and lace to your project.  Edge finish with the basic stitch and apply elasticized binding and piping. Use narrow rolled edge treatments on knits and wovens.  Learn how to hem using the flatlock stitch.  Using tube turning tools, create serged elasticized straps.
