Weekend NG Zoom Meeting

Weekend NG Zoom Meeting

Gather your beeswax, ladies, we’re going to make reusable food wrappers from fabric!

Maxine is presenting the step by step instructions so you try these on your own.  Those who have these wrappers love them.  Think Christmas gifts for someone who has everything.

There are a couple of methods, so the necessary supplies may vary.

These are supplies you’ll need no matter what.

  • Beeswax – block or pellets (white preferred).  Try Michaels, Amazon, Etsy. Read reviews, quality varies.
  • Jojoba oil – sold in vitamin, natural foods stores, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Etsy, Amazon
  • Pine Resin or Damar resin – Amazon for pine resin, Blick Art or Joann for Damar resin

Supplies you probably have:

  • Cotton fabric, batiks work well
  • Pinking shears or a wavy rotary cutter
  • Parchment paper
  • An iron
  • A cheap paintbrush, about 1” brush
  • Half sheet baking pan or cookie sheet
  • Old towel to protect your ironing board
  • A food grater if you buy block beeswax
  • A makeshift double boiler, a small saucepan and a small wide mouth jar or tin can
  • A makeshift drying rack, like a cooling rack for baking

I can’t wait to see how all this works so hope to see you on Zoom, Sunday 10/18 at 2:00.
